What's happening in Singapore

Both public robotaxi services in Singapore run in Punggol, a town in the northeast, and neither charges a fare yet. Grab and WeRide opened their Ai.R service to the public on Apr 1, 2026, with Safety Operators onboard. It runs Routes 1 and 3 plus a 20-minute Mini Route through the Punggol residential estate, on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Reserve through the Ai.R reservation link at rideair.ai, offered with Grab.

Pony.ai's cars opened to public bookings on Jun 22, 2026 in ComfortDelGro's Zig app. They follow a fixed route in northern Punggol that links homes with Punggol Coast MRT, Punggol Coast Mall, One Punggol, Oasis Terrace and Punggol Plaza. Pony.ai has not confirmed whether a safety operator rides along, but Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA) has said safety operators stay onboard, so the service counts as supervised.

Neither service runs on Uber. Grab said commercial service was planned for mid-2026, followed by introductory discounted fares, but no switch to paid rides has been reported. For a traveler, both feel closer to a free shuttle on a set route than to the point-to-point Waymo rides in US cities such as Phoenix.
