About WeRide
Outside China, WeRide's robotaxis reach riders mainly through Uber. At home it runs fully driverless, 24/7 commercial service, where its service area has tripled since the end of 2025 to cover the Huangpu, Tianhe and Haizhu districts, and it says it keeps growing its driverless area in Beijing. All of that is covered on the China page.
WeRide lists seven places, and three of them have fully driverless rides. Abu Dhabi went fully driverless on Uber on Nov 25, 2025, after Uber and WeRide started there with safety operators in Dec 2024, and the service now covers about half of the city's core, including Al Reem and Al Maryah. Dubai followed on Mar 31, 2026 with fare-charging rides in Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim. China makes the third.
Rides in Riyadh and Singapore carry a safety operator. Riyadh rides began on Uber on Oct 24, 2025 on routes between Roshn Front and Princess Noura University, and Singapore's Ai.R service, with Grab, opened in Punggol on Apr 1, 2026. Spain granted WeRide, Uber and Avomo its first national Level 4 permit on Sep 10, 2026, for 20 supervised vehicles in Madrid, where WeRide is now testing. In Zurich, a commercial launch with safety drivers is planned for about December 2026, with fully driverless rides targeted for mid-2027.
Booking and riding
In Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Riyadh you request a ride in the Uber app. Dubai cars come up under Uber's Autonomous option, and a company called Tawasul manages that fleet. WeRide's Dubai rides charge fares, though no fare table has been published. Madrid and Zurich will also use Uber when they open, and a WeRide executive told Zag Daily that Madrid fares should be comparable to regular Uber.
Singapore works differently. Ai.R rides are reserved through a link at rideair.ai, run with Grab, and cost nothing until commercial service starts, after which Grab plans introductory discounted fares. The service covers Routes 1 and 3 plus a 20-minute Mini Route in the Punggol estate, on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with safety operators on board. WeRide has no airport pickups in any city, and no age rules have been published.
Recalls and investigations
WeRide has no recalls or regulator investigations on record. Its logged events are launches and permits: Riyadh on Uber from Oct 24, 2025, driverless Abu Dhabi from Nov 25, 2025, driverless Dubai from Mar 31, 2026, Singapore's Ai.R from Apr 1, 2026, the Zurich plan of Jun 17, 2026 and the Madrid permit of Sep 10, 2026. New safety records will appear on the safety page with dates.
