Riding Zoox in Miami
Zoox announced on Mar 24, 2026 that rider testing in Miami and Austin would start in spring 2026, though no exact Miami start date has been confirmed. WLRN reported that rides would go first to Zoox employees and their families and friends, with public riders from a waitlist coming later, and no date for that has been set.
The area is small. Electrek called it a tiny portion of the city, a high-demand ride-hailing area near the water, and Futurride names Edgewater and Beverly Terrace. No square-mile figure, airport plan or price has been published for Miami, and rides for the employee group are booked in the Zoox app. The purpose-built vehicles have four facing seats, each with its own seatbelt, airbags and a touchscreen.
Waymo is open to everyone in its app across about 150 sq mi, including Wynwood, the Design District, Brickell and Miami Beach, and Tesla Robotaxi serves West Miami, Doral and Coral Gables. A public Zoox ride means going to Las Vegas, which sells rides between fixed stops, or San Francisco, where the Zoox Explorers program gives free rides from a waitlist. See the Zoox page.
