Riding Waymo in Dallas
Invited riders got in first, on Feb 24, 2026, and the invite step went away on Aug 4, 2026. Dallas Innovates described the zone as bordered by Northwest Highway on the north and reaching south past Downtown to the Bishop Arts District and parts of South Dallas. The outline on the Dallas map is simplified from Waymo's own published service-area image, which makes it one of the more precise Dallas outlines.
Dallas riders use the Waymo app, not Uber as in Austin, and must be 18 to ride alone, with no teen accounts. Freeways are still off the table: Waymo said on Aug 4, 2026 that fully autonomous freeway testing in Dallas would begin soon, and no rider timetable had appeared by Sep 24, 2026. At Dallas Love Field, Waymo is running fully autonomous tests at the terminals and says it will serve travelers soon, while Dallas/Fort Worth International is not on its airport list. The Love Field page follows any change.
Of the Dallas operators, Waymo has the largest zone. Tesla Robotaxi covers about 31 sq mi from Downtown up through the Park Cities in its own app. Avride works through Uber in about 9 sq mi of Downtown, Uptown, Turtle Creek and Deep Ellum with a specialist behind the wheel, while a Waymo has no one in the car. Zoox is reported to be testing, and Mobileye's Lyft service is still a plan.
